As he honed his skills, his game improved dramatically. He took 2nd place in the AUD 20,000 No-Limit Hold 'em event at the 2005 Crown Victorian Poker Championships in Melbourne, winning over $96K. In 2008, he won the AUD 10,000 HORSE Special Event at the Aussie Millions Championship, banking more than $70K. He then went on to place 4th in the $10,000 World Championship Pot-Limit Omaha at the 2008 World Series of Poker, winning over $268K in prize money.

Despite his reputation as a fearless high-stakes player and his numerous tournament successes, Billy “The Croc” remains adamant that poker is not his career, but simply a game that he loves. He earned his nickname in Vegas, while playing heads-up with Johnny Moss in a satellite for the WSOP Main Event. The film Crocodile Dundee was a huge hit at the time and something everyone associated with Australia, so he decided to introduce himself as Crocodile Bill. Known for being a lively character at the table, his trademark Crocodile hats and outgoing nature make him easy to spot.
