With 33 years of professional poker experience, a WSOP bracelet and an intense interest in the history and strategy of the game, Frank Thompson is a poker player’s "poker player".

Frank grew up in a Yorkshire coal mining community in the north of England.  While moonlighting as a host at a high-stakes bridge club, he was introduced to the greater financial potential of poker and within months, Frank was playing poker full-time.

While he likes all types of poker, Frank’s preference is for Seven-Card Stud. His favorite variant is Hi/Lo. Frank had his biggest tournament success to date in the 27th WSOP $2,500 Seven-Card Stud Split event in 1996, winning $94,000 and a coveted bracelet. Having cashed in seven WSOP events and with over $160K in career tournament earnings, Frank spends the majority of his time playing ring games due the flexibility that they offer.

Frank combines his love of poker with an interest in world history. He believes poker players can learn much from great world leaders, who have an understanding of how to coerce opponents into making fatal errors.  

Today, Frank divides his time between homes in Los Angeles, France and Yorkshire. Wherever he is, he enjoys cycling everyday to keep fit. Frank remains a life-long fan and season ticket holder of Middlesbrough Football Club in England.
