Gary Jones

Originally from Staffordshire, England, Gary is known as "The Choirboy". He combines roles of being one of the UK’s best known players in addition to being a leading poker commentator on UK TV.

Gary started playing poker in college. When one of his first IT jobs allowed him to work on call, he filled in the hours by playing poker while getting paid at the same time. He left the comfort of full time employment and turned pro in 1999, although he retains a keen interest in software development.

Since then, Gary has made the most of a consistent playing career with frequent cashes in tournament events. Winner of the European Poker Classic $500 PLO event in 2000, he became British Open champion in 2001 and final tabled the WSOP $1,500 Limit Hold ‘em event in 2002. His biggest score was a 17th place finish at the 2004 WSOP Main Event for $175K. Gary also final tabled the WSOPE £2,500 H.O.R.S.E event in 2007, finishing in 8th place. In November 2009, he recorded a 4th place finish in the FTOPS XVI Two-Day Event, winning more than $190K. While he’s a solid tournament player, Gary prefers to play ring games and considers Pot Limit Omaha to be his best game.

Gary is well known in the UK for his frequent TV appearances as a commentator on The Poker Channel. Now living in London, his interests outside of poker range from 3D Graphics / Visual effects to "green" issues − Gary has sported green hair at previous events and chooses not to fly due to environmental reasons.

Whether he’s at the table of delivering commentary on tournament events, you can find Gary online at Full Tilt Poker.
