Johnathan 'Fatal1ty' Wendel

Recognized as the most successful Professional PC Gamer to date, Johnathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel is a welcome addition to the Friends of Full Tilt Poker. Titling himself as an “E-sportsman,” Fatal1ty aims to be the best PC gamer in the world. He trains for eight to ten hours a day and invests additional time in analyzing his performance by watching video footage of his games. Fatal1ty is the highest earning Professional Gamer in history, and is the first player to have won 12 World Championships.

Fatal1ty started his career as a Professional Gamer in 1999. His first major competition was the Cyberathlete Professional League (CPL) tournament in Dallas, where he took 3rd place and received $4,000 in prize money. He then travelled to Sweden to compete against the world’s top 12 players and won the competition with 18 straight wins. This awarded his first championship title and secured his position as the top Quake III player in the world. Fatal1ty successfully defended his title two months later at the CPL and has continued to travel the world, winning titles and recognition ever since. His biggest win to date came at the 2005 CPL World Tour Championship in New York City, which awarded him $150K in prize money.

An ambassador for PC gaming, Fatal1ty joined forces with Championship Gaming Series (CGS) in 2006 as their exclusive on-air analyst and spokesperson, with the aim of establishing competitive video gaming as a sport. He is also the owner and the face of the Fatal1ty Gaming Gear which provides hardware and accessories designed to enhance the quality of the gaming experience. Working alongside his licensees, he has organized several promotional events where audience members can challenge him in exhibition matches. Fatal1ty’s passions are competition and gaming, and he is proud to be in a position where he can give something back to the gaming community that he loves. In 2007, he received the first ever e-sport Lifetime Achievement Award for his sportsmanship and his representation of gaming.

With a competitive spirit and unflinching determination, it’s no surprise that Fatal1ty has developed an interest in poker. Attracted by the community aspect of the game, he began playing in 2000 at his friend’s home game. True to form, Fatal1ty discovered that the competitive spirit of poker suited his personality. He has had some success in live media-invite tournaments, and looks forward to improving his skills by playing more poker in the future.

Outside of gaming and poker, Fatal1ty enjoys a number of sports including basketball, tennis, golf and pool. He sees sports as integral part of his training, maintaining and enhancing his hand-eye coordination and reflexes.
