Rui Cao plays online at Full Tilt Poker

Rui Cao

Raised in China by his grandmother, Rui moved to Paris when he was seven years old to join his parents.

As a student, Rui studied computer science then finance, and was introduced to poker by friends in 2006. He began playing in regular home games but his studies restricted the amount of time he was able to dedicate to poker.

Towards the end of 2007, Rui found himself with more spare time and made his move to the virtual felt. Playing under the name ‘Gohanounet’, he made an initial deposit of $50 and soon won back-to-back 180-player micro-stakes tournaments to give him the confidence to progress.

He continued to fine tune his game by enrolling at CardRunners and rose rapidly through the levels. Within three months of his initial deposit he was playing $5/$10 No Limit Hold ‘em ring games. The following year Rui continued his progression by playing more, both live and online, making his first live tournament cash in the 2008 WSOP Main Event.

In 2009, Rui began focusing on playing high stakes Pot-Limit Omaha but continued to be successful at Limit Hold ‘em tournaments. He reached his first live final table at the €3K No Limit Hold ‘em event, part of The Hold ‘em Series 2009 in Paris.

Rui has enjoyed a lot of success, especially playing Pot-Limit Omaha heads up. He regularly does battle with some of the biggest names at Full Tilt Poker, such as Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan and Cole South, at the high stakes ring games.

A keen gamer, Rui now lives in London and when not playing poker enjoys spending time with his family and friends.
