Shawn Buchanan plays online at Full Tilt Poker

Having grown up in Abbotsford, Br Co, Shawn Buchanan began playing poker with friends for pocket change. After discovering online poker, he began building his bankroll and suggests any new players should ensure they play within their limits. He advises, "Learn how to manage your money properly and play games you are totally comfortable in."
In 2004, Shawn made the transition to the live environment and began playing tournaments across North America. His solid play was rewarded with five-figure winnings in each of his first three years of playing live.
Shawn made his breakthrough in spectacular fashion at the 2007 Mandalay Poker Championship. Facing 228 entrants, Buchanan fought his way through the field before finally eliminating Full Tilt Poker pro Jared Hamby for the first prize of $768K and the World Poker Tour title.
The Canadian reached his first WSOP final table in 2008, when his fourth place in the $2,500 No Limit Hold 'em event won him $218K. In 2009, he claimed another large payday at the Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic, where he was rewarded for his elimination at the final table with $333K.
Shawn's success in the WPT continued in April, 2010, at the Five Star World Poker Classic where his final table finish earned him an impressive $587K and was the ideal preparation ahead of the 2010 World Series of Poker.
A 21st-placed finish in Event #3 of the 2010 WSOP didn't make any headlines, but by the conclusion of the 2010 series it would be noted as the first of a spectacular run of eight cashes for the Canadian. No player cashed more times than Shawn at the 2010 WSOP. His final and biggest cash came in the $25,000 No Limit Hold 'em - Six Handed event, where he finished as the runner up for $812K.
Shawn is a big basketball and baseball fan, and like any true Canadian enjoys camping and fishing.
